FD142 dikendalikan melalui modul Asterisk loadable res_failover.so. Modul ini terus mengirim sinyal "berjalan" ke IP PABX OpenVox Redundant. Setelah IP PABX OpenVox OFF  atau daya sistem terputus, modul tidak akan dapat mengirimkan sinyal "running" ke FD142 dan dengan demikian ia akan secara otomatis beralih ke IP PABX OpenVox Cadangan.
